YIELD
The work of Sutton Courtenay-based songwriting brothers S and A Boon (A being called Andy, S apparently not having a proper name, or maybe a really embarrassing one like Sandra, unless of course he is a she in which case that wouldn’t be quite so embarrassing, but possibly not something you’d want to admit to and, look, maybe we ought to shut up now before we get inundated with irate letters from people called Sandra who are actually proud of the fact). Anyway, S and A Boon and their band strum acoustic guitars and ponder the beauty and evil of the world around us with a quavering voice that sounds like they’re a bit cold as well as world weary. And so they strum and generally drone inconsequentially for a mercifully short period of time in a fashion that’s just a bit dull rather than offensive in any way. Eventually electric guitars and an organ join in to bolster the sound but the song remains the same. Earnest almost to the point of being pained, it’s a theme that is to be repeated many times before the demo pile is exhausted.
