CASE HARDIN
Back to prove that they’re not, as we said of their last demo, a middle aged pub rock band, or anything like The Eagles, Case Hardin offer up a live set of four songs from a recent Miller-sponsored band competition. They do tend to sound a lot like a mid-west bar band, though. They’ve got a country-blues edge to their rock that reminds us a lot of Don McLean or, at its best, Tom Petty or Bob Dylan. They’ve got an authentic rootsy edge on the better tracks, like ‘A Little Hard To Find’, with its just-north-of-Nashville feel, but at other times, like on ‘Take It From Mojave’, they wander blindly into MOR rock and sound too earnest and far too much like Counting Crows for our sensitive ears. Maybe they need to drink a bit more moonshine or have their hearts broken a few more times.
