Thursday 28th Bullingdon Arms FifthAmendment’s new single, ‘Heave’, finds razorblade-tonsilled singer Allison MacInnes screaming blue murder about having her tongue cut out. It’s a pretty appropriate introduction to the band whose debut single, ‘Praeludium’, at the end of last year won them a Kerrang! single of the week and launched them as the UK’s most promising industrial-goth-metal band. Tonight they’re headlining a Kooler Klub rock night and should manage to blister the venue paintwork. Now signed to the relentlessly eclectic One Little Indian, FifthAmendment have already played with the likes of Korn, Pearl Jam and Slipknot as well as gigging in the UK with Bloodhound Gang and Pitchshifter and offer another spark of hope for the somewhat floundering Brit-metal scene. Fans of My Ruin will probably love them while the more gothic-minded will doubtless warm to their desolate outlook. Capable of some wonderful moments of undiluted viciousness with all the requisite hardcore trimmings, a stout heart may be required to attend but a night of genuinely virulent noise action seems guaranteed. |
